Extracellular vesicles as a disease carrier in cancer and neurodegenerative diseases

Extracellular vesicles (EVs) are small lipid bilayer particles released by normal and pathological cells. EVs can transport different components, like proteins, mRNA, fragments, non-coding RNAs, and lipids between cells. EVs are known to participate in cell-cell communication, tumor-stromal interactions, signal pathway activations, and immunomodulation. In case of cancer and neurodegenerative diseases, it is known that EVs can transport initiative factors. Because neurodegenerative diseases and cancers are increasing globally there is a need for novel methods in early diagnostics and in personalized treatment methods. In this study EV ecosystem is aiming to promote the usage of EVs to overcome these challenges by identifying true characteristics and usability of EVs.
